  • Description

  • UC 230 is a filled, thixotropic, low slump solvent free, epoxy bedding mortar and adhesive.
  • It has been specifically designed as a specialized adhesive for Urochem FPO (Flexible Polyolefine) bandage systems used in potable water reservoirs as well as wastewater reservoirs, as well as for bonding of Carbon Fibre strengthening strips.
  • It is characterized by a good working life and fast cure.
  • Product Application

Specifically formulated for bonding of UC FPO and other polymer membranes to prepared concrete in Potable Water Reservoirs, and for bonding of carbon fibre reinforcing strips to prepared concrete.

    Surface Preparation

  • All surfaces to be clean, sound, and dry, free from any oil laitance, dust or curing agents.
  • Any exposed steel must be cleaned to a bright finish before application of UC 230.
  • All dust must be removed by compressed air or vacuum.
  • Mixing

  • UC 230 can be mixed by hand on a flat, clean surface, or can be mechanically mixed if required.
  • Care should be taken when mixing to ensure a streak free uniform colour and consistency.
  • Do NOT split kits.
  • Application

UC FPO and other Membrane Systems

  • Tape the area where the membrane is to be applied, typically, 50mm either side under the bandage and 25mm away from the edge onto the concrete.
  • Apply the mixed UC 230 at 1mm minimum thickness.
  • Bed the UC FPO membrane into the UC 230, using a firm roller. Roll the membrane firmly allowing excess UC 230 to extrude from the edge of the membrane
  • Apply the second layer of UC 230 to the UC FPO membrane and into the UC 230 on the concrete. Total thickness should be 1mm above and 1 mm below the membrane and 2mm on the concrete substrate.
  • Remove the masking tape and feather the edge of the UC 230 with a paint brush or trowel.
  • Carbon Fibre Systems

Consult a specialist Structural Engineer for design criteria and specific application methods, as loads on various elements play an integral role in the application of these systems.

    Cleaning

  • Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with UC 901.
  • Once the epoxy has set it may only be removed mechanically.
  • Safety

  • Contact with the skin should be avoided.
  • Wear gloves and protective clothing.
  • In case of eye contact wash well with warm water and obtain medical advice.
  • The cured material is not toxic.
